Dan Brown's Origin - much ado about nothing

Much ado about nothing. I think this is the line that best describes the book.
Interesting title, intriguing beginning, good characters and yet...a disappointment.
I have read Dan Brown before so I knew, in a way, what to expect. Lots and lots of art, vivid descriptions, history, insights, basically you get a thriller mixed with an artsy tour guide.
If you ever wondered what you can see in Barcelona, just read this book. It covers all the hot places and poses as a very comprehensive tour guide. For the art lovers, it is a great read.
Still, I do not know how many have the patience to drill through hundred of pages to get to see something happening.
The book promises the secret of human most important questions: 'where are we coming from?' and 'where are we going? The discovery of Edmond Kirsch promises to be earth shattering, worth killing for but what we get in the end is a big 'Pleeeeease, give me a break.'
The story or to be more precise, the ending, is credible maybe for the very young. It even fails to give a decent ending, leaving a lot of loose ends. It seems like the author changed his mind in the end and turned the book from interesting into a far-fetched story.
For everyone else who, for example saw any Terminator movie, Dan Brown's idea of the future is not a bright one as the author wants us to think.  'A tale of the purity of machines that quite literally did exactly what was asked of them, always, without fail.' he says. Yeah, right. Who does not want to have a smart house that can get you killed because it thinks you may want it to? As someone who goes through laptops like others go through shoes, I am extremely reluctant to embrace the bright future of AI. For me it is a nightmarish scenario.

But going back to the book it is basically an advertisement for Artificial Intelligence, Uber services, Tesla, a Barcelona guide, art nouveau guide and somewhere on the side you get some action.

I've been reading Molly Harper's books for over ten years now and she never ceases to surprise me. She has an incredible sense of humor and a knack to build interesting female and male characters that will keep me engaged throughout each of her books. The first book I read was 'Nice girls don't have fangs' and I connected instantly with the main character who is a librarian that gets turned into a vampire after the town drunk idiot mistakes her for a deer while walking home, shots her and lets her to die on the side of the road. While Molly's first and most famous series is concentrated around vampires, now she decided to go into a different direction: dragons! 'How to date your dragon' was a great surprise, not only for the change of subjects but because I decided to purchase it as an audio book. I can only say that this added an extra flavor to the book. Most people come to Vienna to shop. Or to visit the Christmas market and the museums. Whatever the reasons Vienna is full to the brim with tourists from all over the world in any given day. Are Austrians happy with it? Not so much since they are not the warmest people on the planet. Still, tourists support the economy. Vienna has a ton of attractions. Everywhere you turn, there is a palace. The buildings in the city center are a couple of centuries old. Architecture is amazing if you stick to the center.
