Welcome to Ordinary - a vacation spot for Gods and creatures alike

So welcome to Ordinary! Let your worries behind, embrace a new life, a new name and mingle among Gods, creatures, vampires, werewolves and humans alike.
If you need a place to stay Hades runs a cozy B&B down the street.
Looking for a new suit? Zeus is the guy for you, his fancy shop is worth the money.
Want a souvenir? Why don't you buy a wooden sculpture from Odin?
Need someone to supervise your kids? Ares runs the local kindergarten.
In the evening you can go grab a beer and something to eat at Hera's pub, play pool with vampires and werewolves and meet the town law enforcement family - the Reed sisters.
Police chief Delaney Reed and her sisters Myra and Jean are the main characters in Devon Monk's 'Ordinary magic' series. All three of them possess special skills suitable for their jobs.
Delaney, the oldest, is the bridge for Gods power, Myra, the middle girl is the keeper of records and has a knack of showing up when she is needed and Jean, the baby sister with the colorful hair and sunny personality feels when something bad is going to happen.
But what makes Ordinary special are the Gods.
In book number one 'Death and Relaxation' Delaney gets to have a new God on the premises, Thanatos, God of death. Stiff as a stick, with no sense of humor, Thanatos puts his power in storage with Delaney's help, opens a kite shop and starts relaxing.
He is the only one doing it because things are crazy in Delaney's life. The town troublemaker Dan Perkins' rhubarb plantation has blown up and he is pissed as a sack of wet kittens. Her teenage crush Ryder Bailey is back into town and joins the police force as a volunteer which complicates her feelings, one God gets killed and she gets roped into judging the Rhubarb rally.
This may not be such an issue but she hates rhubarb and when a God dies she needs to store that Gods power and find another willing vessel, meaning human, for it. Within a week. So no pressure or anything...Everything that can go wrong goes wrong but eventually, at the last possible moment, after Delaney gets shot of course, it all comes together with a ton of help from everybody.
In book number two: 'Devils and Details' Crow manages to mess things up in an exceptional way.
Crow is the mortal name for Raven, the trickster God who got tricked this time. He was in charge of storing the powers of all Gods vacationing in Ordinary for a year. The problem was that the powers are missing and Crow is scared and mad in the same time because no one tricks the trickster God.
Needless to say that the rest of the Gods are pretty mad at him but it is Delaney's job to find the powers. They can help of course, but for this they have to pick up their power, which is missing, and when they do that they give up their vacation rights for a long while. And the last God who helped hence quitting his vacation is still pissed and pours rain all over Ordinary since the moment he left which was months ago. That God was Thor and you can say he can carry a grudge.
All this is a lot of work for Delaney but things are not done yet. One vampire turns out dead and Old Rossi, the Master vampire finds out that things that he thought were dead for thousands of years can come to life and haunt you.
Delaney's romantic life is also complicated since Ryder Bailey, the man who she cannot decide if she can let into her life proves he has a lot of secrets of his own. Plus he makes a blind deal with the God of contracts that seems like a bad idea at the beginning but will prove a good thing on the long run.
In the last book of the series (so far) 'Gods and Ends' Delaney discovers that she cannot tell the difference between allies keeping secrets and enemies telling the truth. Old Rossi's past is a threat to the whole town and when Ben gets kidnapped the clock gets ticking. Delaney needs to work fast and to make decisions that may be dangerous for her but good for the town. In the end, she needs to protect everybody even if that mean putting her life in danger. Again.
Plan A needs a plan B, vampires get to work with werewolves more than ever before and everybody's life gets a serious turn.
She has her family and friends around her working towards a common goal even if they do not completely agree with the plan.
The whole book is a race around the clock, a discovery of old secrets and a chance to see a hidden face of old known things.
The series has three additional short stories, each of them centered on one of the three sisters. 'Rock candy' is about Jean, the gnomes war and Hogan, her handsome boyfriend. 'Paper stars' focuses on Delaney's relationship with Ryder and 'Scissor kisses' shows us a different Myra, her deep wishes and her struggles in keeping a certain demon at bay.
